More Berry Bliss Tin Card Files

For one set, I made matching cards to store inside, and for the other I made dividers for filing.  The dividers are made with the Stampin' Up round tab punch, pink eyelets, a corner rounding punch, Stampin' Up card stock and DSP, and an adhesive runner.

The tin boxes are by Provo Craft.  These are my favorite in this shape and size because standard 1/4" ribbon fits perfectly around the outer edge of the lid.  I get them at Michael's Craft Store.  

If you buy these, check them carefully for damage when you take them off the shelf.  I find that many dents will just push right back out by rubbing your thumb across the dents from the inside.  When I see a tin lunch box in good condition, I buy it and set it aside for when I need it.  They will sometimes stock the shelves with badly damaged tin lunchboxes and you can't find a good one when you need it.  

Products used are from Stampin' Up: Berry Bliss Designer Series Paper, Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, Purely Pomegranate double stitched grosgrain ribbon, One Of A Kind stamp set, Purely Pomegranate Classic ink pad.  I also used various ribbons and eyelets that I picked up at Jo-Ann and Walmart.  The paper is attached with Scrapbook Adhesives Photo Tape by 3L.  The ribbons are held in place with Aleene's Original Tacky Glue.

"Blissful" Berry Bliss Tin Card Files / Tin Purses

For these tins, I left the goop out of the decoupage.  I skipped the Mod Podge and the Aleene's Laminate It altogether.  These altered containers are gifts for adults, so they won't need a topcoat anyway.  It was much faster and easier than the two tin containers I've made with sealers, and I like the way they look.  The product I used this time to adhere the paper to the tin is Scrapbook Adhesives Photo Tape 81' permanent super high tack tape by 3L.  I bought it at the local scrapbooking store.  I applied it close to the edge along all the edges of the paper and laid it onto the tin lunch box.  

I scrapped the paper template I had downloaded and made my own template for the lids.  It was worth the effort because it fit on the first try without trimming.  In a future blog, I'll post instructions on how to make the template.  Once you get one that works, trace it on card stock and cut it for additional lid.

Mini-Album Gift: Keep It Simple/Get It Done

Mini-Albums are "do-able" when you can't make the time for scrapbooking.  I ordered an extra set of prints so I could make this little mini-scrapbook for my sister-in-law's birthday.  There are about 20 pages in this book, all of one day at a beach.  It measures about 7" X 7 1/2". I made it a month in advance in one day, when I had the time, so I wouldn't get into a crunch.  I kept it very simple, to make sure it got done.    

The stamp set is Stampin' Up's Fishy Friends and the inks and card stock are from Stampin' Up's Bold Brights collection.  I don't recall where I got the ribbon, but it looked great with the Bold Brights.

Two new cards made with the SU Wild Wasabi Promo Card Stock

I got a pack of the new SU Wild Wasabi textured card stock that comes pre-scored and cut.  It was an odd size and shape with an overhang, with an extra score that was puzzling to everyone I've talked with who bought this item.  We puzzled "till our puzzlers were sore."  These are the first two cards I made with it and I like them.  The cut and the scoring were odd, but the color of this card stock is gorgeous!

I used the Purely Pomegranate ink pad - just got it and couldn't wait to try it.   It looks best to me on white card stock, but I liked it on these card stocks, too.  On white,  it is really juicy - makes me want to drink some Pom Wonderful.  I also used the Wild Wasabi ink.  This whole In Color series by Stampin' Up is FABULOUS!

The butterfly is from the Priceless stamp set, the scrolls are from Delight In Life, the big flower is from Friendship Blooms.

Easter Cards and Candy Gift Bags - Simple and Sweet!

For this simple project, I used DCWV papers and Stampin' Up card stock, stamp saying and regal rose ink, and Making Memories flower eyelets.  The candy bags are for my children's "sweet" teachers.  The cards are for family and friends.  Once I knew what I was going to do, the whole set (cards and goodie bags) took a couple of hours.     I love simple projects because they actually get done.  It was sunny today and above freezing. When I finished these cards it started to feel like Spring!

My First Altered Tin Card File / Tin Container

I think this should have been much easier than it was.  I guess there is a learning curve!  Here's what I learned:  Why Mod Podge?  The next time I make one of these, I will use a sticky strip, double-sided tape, or some other adhesive and skip the whole decoupage adventure.  I think as long as I use a good quality designer paper, and make it as a gift for an adult, it will hold up fine for most purposes.  I made this as a Mothers' Day gift for my mother-in-law.  I started early because I plan to make a variety of these for several people. 

Harriet Beecher Stowe - scrapbook layout

This is a layout I did this week of my daughter's third grade Living Museum event last year.  She read Uncle Tom's Cabin and several biographies of Harriet Beecher Stowe to prepare for her part and write a report.  In some of the photos, she tried to use a serious expression to make it look like a real Civil War era photo.  During the Civil War, the subject of a photo kept a very relaxed facial expression because any motion at all would blur the photo.  The camera shutter stayed open too long to hold a smile that would look natural in the photo.  The Union Army uniform she is holding in one of the photos is authentic.  Click on any layout to see more detail and read captions.

I used Stampin' Up cardstock and printed products from the Deja Views Timeless collection for this ten-page 12x12 layout.  I made the captions on my iMac.  The best part was getting it all done in one afternoon while the kids went bowling.
